| The usual packing is achieved by
bundles of different sizes. These are prepared according
to final dimensions and weights of the bundles.
Ductile iron pipe has excellent mechanical
properties and coatings - linings are resistant to external
effects. However ductile iron pipes are heavy materials
and some precautions should be taken for safety of personnel
and to prevent any possible damage to coating and cement
mortar lining.
During transport, loading and off-loading
severe metal contacts to pipes should be avoided not
to damage the coating and inner lining.
For this reason textile slings, straps
or rubber coated wire ropes should be used. |
| |
|
|
| |
Individual pipes with sizes greater
than 400mm, can be lifted either by a sling or using
an appropriately shaped hooks at spigot and socket ends.
In these cases to avoid damage to the coating or cement
mortar lining, the sling should be non-metallic or the
hooks should be coated with rubber.
When the pipes are to be stored, this
can be done by stacking the pipes as bundles, or as
individual pipes. When they are stacked as individual
pipes the fallowing heights should not be exceeded. |
